Apprentice Hoots: Learning with Supermums

Apprentice Hoots: Learning with Supermums

Being an apprentice, it’s important to make the most out of the learning opportunities available within your industry. In this week’s Apprentice Hoots blog, Charlotte explains the external course she recently completed with our friends over at Supermums:

Learning with Supermums

Supermums is a global company that offers Salesforce training and specialised recruitment for individuals looking to enter the ecosystem. They work to provide a variety of excellent training resources and my colleague Paul suggested I take a look at the wealth of content available to help with an upcoming charity project.

Getting to know Nonprofit

We are in the very first developmental stages of a project for a local (and fabulous) charity and as they operate on a nonprofit basis, they require a Salesforce system that differs slightly from other implementations I have had experience of working on before.

The Nonprofit Mini Course available with Supermums contained all of the relevant information I needed to learn in order to help deliver certain requirements in the later stages of the project for our customer.

There were four key modules to complete within the Nonprofit Mini Course including:

  • Volunteer management
  • Impact management
  • Fundraising management
  • Infrastructure orgs and foundations

A big part of the Supermums Nonprofit Mini Course was explaining how to analyse nonprofit organisations. At the end of each key module, Salesforce solutions were provided based on the analysis described in the information. To further your hands on knowledge, specific Trailheads were also suggested too! Each of these modules helped me to understand how to ask the right questions when scoping for a nonprofit organisation based on their specific goals, needs and requirements.

One of the most useful skills I have learnt during this course, is the typical motivators that differ from usual businesses such as improved support for volunteers, volunteer engagement and reduced dropout rates. Not only does it explain how a charity can differ from a regular business, but it also explained how the needs of each of these can contrast quite drastically resulting in different technical solutions.

Want to learn more about Nonprofit?

I have really benefited from signing up to the Supermums Nonprofit mini course and have enjoyed learning about the different aspects through the variety of videos, questionnaires and case studies available.

What’s more, the course contained pre-recorded material meaning I could pick and choose when I wanted to tune in and learn. Plus the content is available for up to 12 months so I can revisit the content if required to help deliver against our nonprofit project.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about Salesforce for nonprofit organisation, then I highly recommend this course. Supermums also have a variety of other learning opportunities available and I’m already looking for what I could achieve next!

Owl see you later…

Charlotte
