Goodbye Summer, hello Salesforce Winter ’23 Release

Waving goodbye to the last few days of Summer needn’t be a bad thing when the Salesforce Winter ‘23 Release is right around the corner. Salesforce professionals and users are welcoming the release which will provide hundreds of useful features and updates to the CRM platform.

Winter ‘23 Preparation

There will be a number of steps and updates needed to prepare your Salesforce org ensuring it’s the most effective. For now however, the essential tasks include preparing your sandbox and determining the time at which your instance of the platform will be upgraded.

Knowing when your sandbox is going to be upgraded is an important step as it will allow the opportunity to test your own system with the new release features. Depending on your sandbox and whether it is ‘Preview’ or ‘Non-Preview’ instance, there will be two release windows. It’s likely though that most sandbox environments will be upgraded on 26th August 2022.

Winter ‘23 Release Dates

When a new release is expected, a key thing to be aware of is when your production instance will be upgraded. Testing all of your main features in Salesforce before the suggested dates is best practice to ensure everything is still working as it should and although Salesforce rarely has any bugs, it’s essential that these checks are completed before a new release is launched.

The main release weekends for Salesforce Winter ‘23 have been announced as:

  • 9th September 2022
  • 7th October 2022
  • 14th October 2022

The release dates will depend on your instance of Salesforce.  If you are not familiar with which instance you are on, you can check this in a number of ways:

1. Determine the browser URL if myDomain is not enabled.

2. Looking at the company information in Setup.

You will need to go to the Company Information page in Setup and locate the Instance field.  This particular org is on UM4.

Once you know the instance your organisation is using, you can check the maintenance window on Salesforce which will confirm the date the Winter ‘23 features will be updated across your CRM.

Winter ‘23 Notes

Although keeping track of these dates is a great way to ensure you are ready for the upcoming changes, we highly recommend reading the Salesforce Winter ‘23 Release Notes. They’re great at providing an insight into the new features, changes and updates you can expect when the release is complete.
