Cotswolds Salesforce Community Group: Flow Documentation

Coacto and Routine Automation were pleased to support the Cotswolds Salesforce Community Group in person on Thursday 2nd March at The Workplace in Cheltenham. The first event of 2023 was a huge success, with many members attending both in person and online to hear valuable speakers like Mark Jones.

Mark Jones gave us a few helpful tips for creating documentation for your Flows that is valuable to you and your users, as well as suggestions for what we can do in the Salesforce platform to help us with your documentation efforts.

Flow Documentation

Mark Jones suggested that Flow Documentation can be hard at times, but we can make it easy by using this useful tips:

  • Don’t over-complicate things.
  • Snapshot your canvas and elements.
  • Keep your descriptions clear and concise.
  • Keep your labels short and descriptive.
  • Pick a naming convention and be consistent.
  • Keep in mind specific items relating to the Flow types.
  • Be mindful and document any potential impact.
  • Make a note of your Flow version.
  • Note why automation is needed and what problem it solves.
