New Year, New Challenges<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Each New Year offers a range of resolutions, opportunities, the chance to do something good and 2022 is certainly no different! Every January the home of cancer care, Maggie\u2019s Centres, encourages runners (and walkers) to challenge themselves to complete 50 miles while raising much needed funds for the charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting Maggie’s<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Maggie\u2019s offers the best possible support to anyone with cancer (and their loved ones) plus the best thing is that it\u2019s completely free. Anyone is able to visit one of their welcoming centres across the country or join the online community. Maggie\u2019s aim is to provide the opportunity for people to take back control when cancer turns life upside down, by helping with professional support for anything from treatment side effects to money worries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of participants taking part in the Run 50 Miles event grows year on year with each individual raising at least \u00a3150 to help fund the compassionate and caring support that Maggie\u2019s provides to those living with cancer in the UK. The Run 50 Miles challenge amounts to a little over 1.5 miles per day, but Paul, our Founder & Principal Consultant, felt he could take the challenge one step further by completing not just 50, but 100 miles this January! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Running to achieve a goal<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

So far, Paul\u2019s winter running experience has proven you can\u2019t be a fair weather runner in January. As expected in the depths of winter, mornings and evenings are dark, temperatures in single digits or below zero and rain, sleet, snow, frost and ice all try to eat away at that determination to complete the task. One of the keys that has unlocked the challenge for Paul, is setting an achievable goal. Like with many things, without setting a goal it is difficult to determine what there is to aim for. Paul\u2019s advice for anyone looking to do the same or similar challenge, is once you have something to aim for, the goal becomes the oxygen that fuels or motivates you getting there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining Team Maggie\u2019s was important for Paul, especially as the centres have been hit hard by the reduced fund raising due to Covid and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
